The four pieces in the series were created during "conversations" with my great uncle. I describe them as such because the dialogue we could share was often undirectional and layered with past and present, due to his cognitive decline. With his sculptures surrounding us, in the house he himself made, I was reminded of how he loved to tell me of the special capacity that paper has to hold memory, to remember. During our "conversations" filled with memories marked in his life, and a memory being marked in my own, I folded paper in forms inspired by his creations. This final series come from these moments, letting the paper remember them in the marked folds and slices that cannot be undone and hold the memory of their own experience.
